How to get free Mantis Blades

Mantis Blades from a Ripperdoc cost 100,000+ eddies at standard tier and you usually can't afford them on your first run. There's a free pair you can grab during a single side gig in Act 1.

The gig: Send in the Clowns

  1. Trigger the gig Going Up? in Watson — Regina Jones calls you a couple of hours after the heist.
  2. The gig sends you to clear out a maelstrom hideout in the Glen area.
  3. The boss enemy (Maelstrom captain on the rooftop) drops Mantis Blades on death — guaranteed.
  4. Loot the body, equip via the cyberware menu under Arms.

Caveats

  • The blades are base-tier — they scale up with you, but if you're picky about color/style, this isn't the fancy pair.
  • Don't sell them by accident. They show as Cyberware in your inventory, not weapons.

If stuck: if the gig didn't drop blades, you may have completed it stealth-only without killing the captain. Reload, kill him directly.
