How to escape the first Zurk chase
The first Zurk encounter is a pure run-don't-fight sequence. The game gives no tutorial — it just lets the swarm catch you, and you respawn frustrated. Here's the working route.
- Sprint forward immediately the moment the Zurks drop. Don't stop to look around.
- Mash X to shake them off. If even one latches on, you can survive the next 4–5 seconds by mashing — but only if you keep running.
- Take every visible jump. The route is mostly linear; if a triangle prompt is on screen, take it.
- The chase ends at the metal shutter that slams down behind you. You'll know — the music drops out.
The game checkpoints aggressively here, so dying once is fine. Dying three times means you stopped moving — keep the stick forward the whole time.
If stuck: the third jump is the wall climb to the right of the dumpster. People miss it because the camera tilts left.
